I grew up in St. Augustine Beach, facing the Atlantic. Every major decision in my life started at the shoreline — the kind of clarity you get when the horizon is the only thing ahead of you. That instinct for clarity drives everything I build.
For a decade, I shipped enterprise products — Wegmans, Disney, AB InBev, Shake Shack, National Geographic. The kind of projects where “it worked in staging” doesn't cut it. Millions of users. Tight timelines. Real stakes.
Now I build the infrastructure behind AI systems. Cortex is a self-healing memory platform — 2,400+ memories, 12,000+ auto-generated relationship edges, running 24/7 on Apple Silicon with zero cloud dependencies. Forge orchestrates 14 autonomous workers overnight — code reviews, research scanning, security audits. I designed, built, and operate all of it.
I run my own infrastructure because recommending systems I haven't operated is guesswork. I prototype in code because designs need to survive real constraints. I build local-first because your data and your AI should be under your control.
Philosophy
Local-First
No cloud dependencies. Your infrastructure, your hardware, your control. Every system I build runs without an internet connection.
Self-Healing
Systems that recover without you. Three-tier resilience: process auto-restart, application graceful degradation, infrastructure warm standby.
Zero Waste
Every component earns its place. No speculative abstractions. No premature optimization. Complexity is added only when the problem demands it.

The Studio Model
Grain Studios is intentionally small. One principal. Deep expertise. No account managers, no layers, no handoffs. When you hire Grain Studios, you get Reed — the same person who architects the system, writes the code, and operates it in production.
